hi,
you could try contacting stratagene, they have a human "neuronal"
cell
line (i think its called hNT) they even have an office in the UK
phone
0223 420955 (cambridge). don't know how they would grow in
suspension.
there is another cell line called NG-108 which also has neuronal
characteristics but in suspension...? hope this helps,
dave
Hi,
Strategene fo offer human neuronal progenitors, that can be
established in culture continuously, they grow as monolayer. Best
bet for a neuronal cell suspension is by trying the European Tissue
culture Collection and/or American Tissue Culture Collection both
available on the net.
SKNSH cells are phenotypically characterised as Noradrenergic
cells, there is 3 different cell types within this cell line (i.e.
neuronal, intermediate and substrate adherent). They were first
established by Biedler et al (1973) and have been fully
characterised by them (Biedler et al, 1989. J.Cancer Res). They
have also isolated a neuronal clone from this parental line called
5SHSY, but I understand they are very finnickety and slow growing
in culture.
hope this is useful.
