My work suggests the hormone, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), is necessary
for transcription and duplication of DNA. Additionally, the brain uses
more DHEA than other tissues, hence, the brain exhibits increased
transcription over all other tissues. I have been told that music
increases the production of DHEA; this is available on the net. (I am
rally sorry, I do not have the time to find it.) Hence, the connection
of music with the brain is DHEA; probably the direct connection is
release of prolactin, which stimulates DHEA. You may read a very brief
synopsis of my work in my articles on evolution and sleep at
http://www.naples.net/~nfn03605 on the net. These contain the citations
you will be seeking, if this interests you.
