There's a company called CWE (don't remember what it stands for or have
the address, sorry), that makes simple, cheap amplifiers with BNC
input/output and built in filters. I've used them for recording field
epsc and pop spikes and they work fine. You might also check the
Stoelting, Newark and Harvard Apparatus catalogs.
