APPEAL FOR ANNUAL DUES AND CONTRIBUTIONS

As you all may or may not know, the events sponsored by our Chapter
are supported almost entirely by the payment of annual dues by our members.
While Council is currently investigating the possibilities of increased
corporate sponsorship, our ability to present an interesting and innovative
schedule for the coming year remains dependent on annual dues payments from
the membership. The events held this past year were extremely successful,
but were also very expensive to support and depleted our reserves
considerably. For those of you who have already paid dues for 1994-1995
(at the annual meeting in April), we thank you. For those of you who have
not yet returned your payment, a membership form is attached for your
convenience. Any additional contributions will also be gratefully
received. Please note that student membership continues to be free
(providing the advisor is a dues-paying member). We look forward to seeing
you all in the coming year.
You can send your $10 annual dues to:

Dr. Leonard Eisenman
Department of Anatomy
Thomas Jefferson University
1020 Locust Street
Phila., PA 19107

NEW MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

Council is undertaking a campaign to increase our membership by
contacting neuroscientists in the greater Philadelphia area who may not be
aware of the existence of the Chapter and its activities. The campaign
will involve transmission of a letter of introduction and a membership form
to individuals identified from membership in our parent Society or other
organizations such as ARVO and MAPS. Please feel free to assist us in this
effort by introducing your colleagues to Chapter activities and by copying
the attached membership form for their use.

NEWSLETTER TO BE PUBLISHED QUARTERLY AND TO INCLUDE LISTING OF
SEMINARS AT
AREA INSTITUTIONS

Council has recognized that in recent years the publication schedule
of this newsletter has become rather erratic. We feel there are benefits
to all concerned if the newsletter is published on a regular schedule.
Hence, The Synapse will now appear quarterly - in June, September, January
and March. We encourage submission of items of interest for inclusion in
the newsletter to be received by the secretary (Dr. Don McEachron, Biomed.
Eng. and Sci. Institute, Drexel Univ., Philadelphia, PA 19104; Phone: 895-
1382; Fax: 895-1414; E-mail: donald_mceachron at cbis.ece.drexel.edu)** no later
than the 15th of the month preceding publication. Please submit a
schedule for the neuroscience seminars in your department and/or
institution. Information on fall seminars should be submitted by August
15th for inclusion in the September edition.

**The electronic edition may come out much more often: perhaps monthly, if we get
information about seminars on a timely basis. You may send information to the editor of the
Electronic Edition of The Synapse: Dr. Tim Shickley:
