The standards are:
(1) Principles of Neuroscience. Kandel, Schwartz, et al. Elsvier.
(2) From Neuron to Brain. Nicholls, Martin, and Wallace. Sinauer.
(3) The Synaptic Organization of the Brain. Shepherd. Oxford.
Of course, there are many other excellent books. But these are
good place to start.
