Okay. My statement about only disreputable scientists using animals taken from
a pound was a bit premature. I hadn't thought about the sentence while writing
it. Certainly I believe that applies to animals stolen or simply taken from
the streets (without going through a pound), so please keep that in mind when
reading my previous post. I'm only referring to animals that are stolen
or simply found.
As for the inbred strains vs. pound animals, I understand that work is done
in this manner (although I am not clear on most of the practices) for certain
systems. I do feel that much research should be done on established lines
first. I understand that the human race is variant. All of the research which
I do (that is not based on human data) needs to be conducted on such strains.
Certainly I don't think all research should be done on these strains, but as
I see it there are problems. But that's a metter for preference of research
goals and styles.
Sorry for the misconfusion in the previous post.
