Neuroscience Community Mourns the Loss of Eliot
Stellar.
The neuroscience community is mourning the loss of
Eliot Stellar who passed away last week at the age of 73.
Dr. Stellar died at the Hospital of the University
Pennsylvania following a battle with cancer. Dr. Stellar,
who had been the chairman of the Department of Cell
and Developmental Biology until his death, was a
renowned neuroscientist in the area of motivation and
ingestive behaviors. Dr. Stellar was also the President of
the American Philosophical Society. While the funeral
services are private, a memorial service will be held at
the University of Pennsylvania sometime in November.

SYMPOSIA/WORKSHOPS FOR PHILADELPHIA
AREA CHAPTER OF SOCIETY FOR
NEUROSCIENCE
The local organizers of the annual meeting of the
Philadelphia Area Chapter of the Society for
Neuroscience are soliciting input for potential themes for
a symposium or workshop to be held in conjunction with
the annual meeting at the end of April/early May. We
are currently seeking a speaker in the emerging area of
PSYCHONEUROIMMUNOLOGY and its related
disciplines as the keynote area, so if you have suggestions
about who may be an excellent speaker in this area,
please contact the secretary at the e-mail address below.
In addition, if you have a suggestion for a concurrent
symposium/workshop please include, along with your
name and e-mail address, the name and address of a
proposed speaker/leader, a proposed title and any other
pertinent information. Send information to:
