Hi,

I don't really think I'll have any success with this query, but
what the heck. I want to spend the rest of my life modeling
neurons, starting off as a computer scientist with a specialization
in numerical analysis and as the years go by, broadening my horizons
in the field of computational neuroscience.

Right now, I work in the data processing department of a mortgage
company. Needless to say, this is too far removed from numerical
analysis, much less modeling neurons.

So my question is this. While I plan on going to graduate school
in numerical analysis, I would like a job more closely related to
my interests. Are there ANY jobs in industry that involve computer
modeling of neurons?

What do I do? Open up the yellow pages and look under Pharmaceutical
Developers or Medical Device Developers for possible employers?

At this point I have a decent understanding of computer science and
need to learn numerical analysis, thus I'd appreciate it, simply if
anyone could make any suggestions on where to look for a job that would
at least in a minimal way help prepare me for computational neuroscience,
even if the job would only vaguely be related to the field.

One last question: Once I have molded myself into a true computational
neuroscientist, will I be locked into academia, or are there ANY jobs
in industry for those who make computer models of neurons? In what areas
of industry might I look?
