I need someone ( anyone ) to help me clarify some electrophysiological terms.
1. How to define junction current (when sharp ro patch electrodes are used ) and
how to measure it;
2. What is electrotonic length and how to measure it;
3. When we measure input resistance o f a neuron we usually insert an electrode
into soma and inject a small amount of hyperpolarizing current into soma and
monitor the change in voltage. In so doing,does the value obtained for input
resistance only represent the resistance of soma not including whole cell ?
4. It has been shown that no antidromic action potential can be induced in rat
spinal motoneuron until
embryonic day 16. However, action potentail can be (i) evoked by injecting
depolarizing current into soma intracellularly as early as E14. Can anyone
overthere provide a plausible explanation for this phenomenon.
Thanks in advance.
