My questions are as follows:
1) To what extent are the auditory and olfactory systems "in
place" and functional in the neonatal rabbit in the period
prior to eye opening (usually around day 10)?
2) To what extend are the eyes fully developed in the neonate
prior to eye opening (ie...are they in there and working or
are they basically non-functional and *that* is why the eyes
are shut)?
3) What is the status of the Mossy fiber to CA3 synapse at
that stage of development?
Thanks to any and all who answer.
Jim
