Bacteria detection

I am doing a research work that deals with the detection of bacteria in
biological fluids like urine.

I will appreciate any help in finding a staining material that produces
fluorescence when reacting with bacteria. Fluorescence should be:

1) Intensive enough as to allow detection of bacteria concentration of at
least 10^3 cfu.

2) The excitation light should be sufficiently "far" and differentiated from
the emission light so that with proper light filtration, the excitaiton
light won't cause background noise to the emission light.

I am not talking about a microscopy method where you see stains but rather
about spectrophotometry that can detect fluorescent light and measure it.

Thanks in advance for your kind help.
