POSITION: Research Chemist, GS-1320-11
LOCATION: Peoria, Illinois
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The incumbent is a Research Chemist in the Mycotoxin
Research Unit at the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research,
Peoria, Illinois. The position will focus on proteomic analysis and
characterization of fungal and plant proteins induced and/or suppressed
during maize ear rot development caused by Fusarium verticilloides,
including proteins involved in fumonisin biosynthesis.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Recent Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemistry, fungal
physiology, plant pathology, fungal biochemistry or related field of study
is required. Experience in proteomics techniques is desired as are skills
in written and oral communications and a demonstrated desire and ability to
conduct independent research.
SALARY: Commensurate with training and experience. Funding is for two
years with the possibility of 2 one-year extensions.
STARTING DATE: January 1, 2005, or until a suitable candidate is available.
