RACE

I have performed rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) on a gene (the sequence of which is only partially known) in bacteria. Both nested and non-nested RACE products gave almost similar size products respectively. However, the sequencing results indicate that both fragments are ribosomal RNA sequences (which is not what I am expecting). I was wondering if anyone may have a possible explanation as to why this happens.
Many thanks in advance.
