It is in the molecules and macromolecular structures. RNA polymerase
makes RNA, ribosomes (etc) make proteins. Membrane functions are in
the cell membrane -- the only membrane there is in basic bacteria.
Most unicellular organisms are very small, and have rather little
structural organization. And what little there is is hard to see.
