Historians believe that in newspost <3ECF0946 at sws.ncl.ac.uk> on Thu, 15
May 2003, HMRomero-Arce@?.?.invalid penned the following literary
masterpiece:
>My problem is that now
>that I want to digest the DNA to get only the RNA for RT-16SPCR

Why???

There are no introns in 16S bacterial RNA so you will get the same
sequence from PCRing genomic DNA as one would using RT-PCR. No need to
go to RNA and RT-PCR unless you have a very specific reason for doing
so.

I have severe doubts that you will have intact RNA from a soil prep
anyway so you may actually get nothing with RT-PCR.

If you really really want to go down the RNA route then try Ambion's new
Turbo DNase I
