Ph.D. Assistantship available for qualified applicant. Research are will be
molecular diagnostics and characterization of foodborne pathogens involving
fluorescent-based PCR (real time or end-point assay), magnetic bead
recovery/retrieval (immuno-based for cell separation; streptavidin-based for
biotin-label recovery), PFGE/Ribotype analysis of select foodborne pathogens
(primarily involved with Listeria monocytogenes). Assistantship has been
provided through Homeland Security and is available immediately to a

My laboratory is in the OSU Food & Agricultural Products Research &
Technology Center (http://www.okstate.edu/ag/fapc) and my appointment is in
the Dept. of Animal Science, I'm a 'Food Microbiologist' and I work with
both applied and basic research projects; degree would be in Food Science
(if through the Animal Science Dept.) or possibly through the Microbiology
Dept. where I am seeking joint appointment. I am looking for candidates
that have a Master's Degree and some background in molecular microbiology.
