If you think it is from ASM, why not go to their web site. I suspect
they give chapter listings for such books.
There is an ASM book "Methods for General and Molecular Bacteriology".
I have the 1st edition, ed by Gerhardt et al, 1994. It does not seem
to have the chapter you suggest, but I think there is a more recent
edition.

Better than reference books is to talk with someone with experience.
There is as much art as science involved.
Look at some articles you consider relevant, see what methods they
use, and what references they give for the methods. And if it doesnt
work easily for you, then contact someone and discuss it.
