energy for t4 tail contraction

Dear colleagues,

Anybody knows exactly from where does the energy for the T4 tail contraction
come from? I've read different explanations (suggestions) for that and I'm
confuse. Some authors suggest that the energy comes from the hydrolisis of
ATP stored in the tail sheath (?). Other reports point that the energy comes
from the conformational change of gp18 proteins during contraction (the
contracted state is the minimal energy form, that is, more stable than the
expanded one).

thanks in advance,

Carles
