I need to know, if the ionic strength (salt concentration) in the
periplasm of marine bacteria is identical with the ionic strength of the
surrounding water (references would be great).
I am a physical chemist interested in the electrostatic surface
properties of a protein located in the periplasm of a photosynthetic
marine bacterium (Roseobacter denitrificans). The ionic strength is
important for the calculation of the electrostatic surface potential.
Any help is very much appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Oliver Hucke.
