Writing to Beijerinck about activated sludge (a new, hot topic) in 1924,
Kluyver said "In connection with this one can mention an organism, at first
sight streptococcus-like, that is putatively identical with Zopf's Bact.
merisopedioides and therefore possibly will also be a chlamydobacteriam".
I know who Zopf was, but does anyone have any ideas what the mystery bug
could be. I've checked Rhodococcus and most of the Chlamydio* bacteria.
