What IS mu-max?
depends upon
temperature
nutrient availability
even with the same organism
so you can only define mu under a particular set of conditions
At some temperature and medium formulation I suppose you DO get mu-max
But it is not a theoretical concept. It isn't a function of anything that
can be defined in an equation-
so why worry about it?
