There is no absolute on this one and the magic factor you are after
depends on a number of local influences effecting sterilty, dehydration
rate, gel strength and recoverability performance of the agar.
All these variables may be easily assessed by performing ecometric
tests on your agar as it ages under prescribed conditions of storage.
