During my travels through PubMed, I encountered a microbe called
Arthrobacter simplex that converts hydrocortisone to prednisilone, and
cortisone to prednisone.
What animals are hosts for A. simplex? Humans?
Are there other corticosteroid-converting bacteria?
If so, are they used commercially to make synthetic steroids?
Where can I learn more about these bacteria?
Thanks.
