I thought that was because homosexual sex is almost unheard of in Africa while
multiple wives and "extra marital" sex is very common. The African strains have
been cooking along a bit longer than any others.
I also remember that a lot of these "new" viral infections showed up after the
Ugandan dictator Idi Amin decided to build a highway through the middle of
Uganda exposing a lot of people to "virgin" jungle and all the flora and fauna
that have never seen a human.
