This is an excellent approach for screening antifungal compounds, however
you must be careful in your selection of media. Some media interfere with
some drugs. For example 5-flucytosine would be inhibited by YPD medium. If
you look at the early work of Smith Shadomy and others you will see an
evolution in the use of different media for this purpose. There is an
"official" protocol for antifungal testing that you might want to look at as
well. I believe that a quick search on pubmed will help you in your
endeavor.
The next problem you will face is how to determine what your results
mean....this is at the heart of most current controversies in this field.
