I'm writing an essay at the moment and I need to cogitate *very* caref
lly over the three points below. AFAICS, point one doesn't preclude th
possibility of the microbe being a virus but I think point 3 certainl
does (and maybe point 2?).
But my question to all you learned microbiologists is: what else migh
be suggested by the data? My feeling is that the info is suggestive
f a fairly narrow range of bacteria but as microbiology is not my firs
subject, I'd appreciate any thoughts (or even guessses w/wo probabili
ies). TIA!
1. Passes through filter with average pore diam of 2.7 micrometres
2. May be preserved in 50% glycerine or milk for several months
3. Transmisssion only possible if strict anaerobic conditions maintain
d UNLESS filtrate is first saprophytized whereafter it may be kept in
erobic conditions and successfully transmitted
