I think Nutrient Agar/Broth contains peptone and beef extract...maybe a
small amount of dextrose, but I'm not sure of that.
Most likely, LB or Terrific would support the organisms you plan to use
for an elementary school project. Nutrient Ag/Br is richer, but the
other two would work for most of the Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonads,
Staph and Micrococci, and Bacillus sp. LB contains peptone, NaCl, and
yeast extract (quantities are different depending on which LB you have,
Lennox or Miller). LB is primarily used to support good growth of
plasmid-carrying E coli's used in many molecular biology labs.
