Dear Friends,
it is with sincere regret and mixed feelings that I have decided to retire
from my position as the Discussion Leader of BIONET.MICROBIOLOGY and the
associated filtered mailing list that currently has over 25 subscribers.
After seven fun years of dedicated service to this community, the time has
come for me to focus on new adventures in new areas. As a result and because
of the time associated with looking after this group, I cannot give the very
best to this group any longer. In my opinion, somebody else with more time
should become the new moderator.
I am willing to serve until an adequate replacement has been found. Anybody,
who can dedicate about 15 minutes each day to monitoring this newsgroup and
who has a keen interest in Microbiology is welcome to apply. The individual
should be dedicated and tolerant of different opinion sometimes voiced here,
yet determined to call off a discussion when it reaches the point of
becoming unprofessional. If this is you, please e-mail your CV to
mlatterich at aim.salk.edu by May 1.
The primary role of the Discussion Leader is to ensure that the level of
discussion remains professional, open and friendly at all times. It is a fun
job and fantastic means to become active in the microbiology community.
Thank you all for creating such a vibrant newsgroup.
Best wishes,
Martin Latterich, Ph.D.
BIONET.MICROBIOLOGY Discussion Leader
