I came upon an abstract on the Medscape Website (www.medcape.com)
about Pseudomonas and nurses' fingernails. You have to be a
registered member, but it's free. The article is "A prolonged
outbreak of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in a neonatal intensive
care unit: did staff fingernails play a role in disease
transmission?" in Infect Control Hosp Epidemiol 2000 Feb;21(2):80-5
(ISSN: 0899-823X). Do a medline search on "fingernails" and you'll be
able to click on the search result.
