I just started to study a microbiological laboratory course. We will do
this like hydrolysis, fermentation, hydrosulphide and indole production,
etc. The idea is to do a series a series of these tests over the next
several weeks on our unknown micro-organism. once we do these tests
then we will know what the mystery life form is.
i am wondering if there are any websites/internet resources that could
help me with the theory such as why we use agar/geleatin, formulas of
the hydrolysis of various protein and starches, etc. i'm not looking
for the actual tests rather just the theory behind the tests.
