Hi .
After a recent practical , ( aim was to isolate bacteria from " raw
milk " ) , and upon doing the write up , i came across a problem .
Perhaps some one can help me. Upon isolating the colonies from the
sample ( this was done by plating out the raw milk on hydrolysate
agar) , we were then told to inoculate them into a lithmus milk (
colour light purple) . An expected colour change was supposed to be
observed after 2 - 4 days , however , i did not see one . My question
is , what changes was i supposed to expect in the lithmus milk ,
and what is the significance of this ? .
Another rhing that troubled me was , how can i calculate the
percentage reduction of micro organisms of i had to subject this raw
milk to pasteurization ?
Thanking you in advance for time and effort
