PLEAS POST: CALL FOR POSTERS
The Society for Industrial Microbiology (SIM) is holding its third biannual
conference on Recent Advances in Fermentation Technology (RAFT III). The
conference will be held at the Hyatt, Sarasota, FL, November 13 - 16, 1999.
A session entitled "Fermentation Instrumentation, Control and Data
Analysis" is being convened by Justin Neway, Ph.D of Aegis Analytical
Corporation and Bing Miller of Fermtech. Presentations currently schedules
for this session include:
1) Analyte monitoring of pilot scale fungal fermentations using in situ
infrared
spectroscopy. D. Pollard, R. Buccino, N.C. Connors, G. Hunt, T. Kirschner,
R.C. Olewinski, K.Saini, W-J Sun, P.M. Salmon. Merck & Company.
2) Batch Process Data Analysis: From Data to Knowledge. Harry Lam, Bob
Kiss and Raquel Iverson. Genentech, Inc.
3) Manufacturing Informatics for Bioprocesses: Recent advances in
retrospective analysis of fermentation batch data for manufacturing process
improvement. Justin O. Neway and Jeffrey A. Junak. Aegis Analytical
Corporation.
4) In situ NMR experimentation in chemostat reactors or model ecosystems.
M. M. Domach, C . D. Castro and A. P. Koretsky. Carnegie Mellon University.
5) Recent advances in microfluidic technology for purposes of on-line
monitoring of bioprocesses. Don Moles, Marcel Madaras, Quinn Leland, Jay
Johnson. Yellow Springs Instruments, Inc.
