The coagulase test is routinely performed using rabbit plasma. If at
all possible, this is the plasma to use and will produce results which
will be accepted by peers.
As far as the hemolysis question is concerned, what type of blood is
in the plates? 5% sheep blood is the standard. What is delta
hemolysis?
Catalase reactions from blood agar are problematic since the blood
agar itself will result in a positive catalse.
