I have always used 3%, the kind you buy at the drug store, for routine
bacteriology. If you are doing quantitative catalase testing on acid fast
organisms - which I assume you are not - but if someone else is - you would
need a stronger peroxide. I can't remember off the top of my head what the
strength is for that test though.
