I seek a Bioinformatics Scientist who will be responsible for
data mining, new target identification, user support, training,
and writing/modifying software to support these activities. Work
with personnel in the bioinformatics group and with scientists in
different therapeutic areas. Require knowledge of advanced data
mining techniques (e.g. HMMs, PSI-BLAST, Smith-Waterman), gene
family classification, EST database searching. This person must
also be proficient in at least one of the following programming
languages: Perl, C, or Java and extensive experience in a Unix
environment is preferred. Experience with sequencing software
such MacVector or Sequencher is desired. The candidate should
possess a B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. degree in the biological sciences,
computer science, or related field with experience in bioinformatics.
