The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Missouri-Rolla
invites applications from qualified, energetic individuals for a
tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence Fall
Semester, 1999.  The position is in the area of Environmental
Microbiology.
 Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in molecular
approaches to microbial biodiversity, ecology, evolution, physiology, or
population genetics. Qualifications for the position include a doctoral
degree and a minimum of 1-2 years of post-doctoral experience in
microbiology or a related field, evidence of excellence in teaching, and a
strong record of research.  Successful applicants will be expected to
teach
at the undergraduate level, participate in the development of a new
graduate program, and establish a funded research program involving both
undergraduate and graduate students.  Opportunities exist for
collaborations within the department and with other departments and
centers
