GLP stands for Good Laboratory Practices. The GLPs are documented in the
U.S. Federal Register and are designed to provide animal test labs with
guidance for ensuring that procedures are developed and followed, data is
documented correctly, and personnel are properly trained. Of course,
there is a lot more than what I have listed here. Other sections in the
Federal Register are the GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) which are
similar documents directed to manufacturures of medical devices and
pharmaceuticals. The GMPs give guidance for analytical labs, operations,
quality and other areas in the company. These documents can be viewed
through the FDA web site (www.fda.gov); search for GMP, GLP and Federal
Register.
