selective media for cryptococcus neoformans

The active ingredient in Bird Seed Agar is Caffic Acid.  Add 1 gm.
Caffic Acid to any general yeast isolation media and look for brown
colonies. I would not use a C&C medium, as the literature indicates
some inhibition of C.neoformans by cycloheximide.  

The prepared medium, Caffic AcidAgar, is available with Saproxin as a
saprophytic fungal inhibitor in a BHI (low pH) media from Randolph
Biomedical - 401-826-1407 * microbiology at usa.net.
