Good advice. I am aware of a micro lab where staff were fortunate to escape
injury using a domestic pressure cooker to sterilise culture media.

A bottle of agar was on a wire rack inside the cooker. Left unattended,
the cooker boiled dry and the base became extremely hot. When the bottle of
agar eventually cracked, its contents fell onto the hot metal base and flashed
into steam which blew the top off the cooker and sprayed the contents about
the lab. Fortunately no one was in the room at the time.
