Working on an unknown with a student today I saw a slide which she
thinks is Proteus vulgaris. Looking at her slide I would say that she
has a capsule and it is some other organism.
We looked in Bergey's and came up with this question that I could not
answer. If you have thick fimbrae on a bacterium could that be
mistakened (by both of our unexpert eyes) for a capsule. ?
Thank you for your response
