Chair Department Of Microbiology And Molecular Cell Sciences 

The University of Memphis invites applications and nominations for the
position of Chair of the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Cell
Sciences. Minimum qualifications include the Ph.D. degree and academic
qualifications commensurate with the academic rank of Professor of
microbiology and molecular cell sciences. The candidate's area of
research specialization may be in biochemistry, cell biology,
developmental biology, microbiology, or molecular biology. We seek
anindividual with a distinguished record of performance in research,
grantsmanship, and teaching with potential or demonstrated abilities to
lead and manage a newly formed academic department. The candidate will
be expected to participate in undergraduate and graduate education and
therefore must be committed to excellence in teaching. The applicant
should also possess interpersonal and leadership skills in mentoring
faculty, directing students, and performing administrative duties. The
department offers a B.S. degree in microbiology and molecular cell
sciences, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in biology with concentrations in
microbiology or molecular cell sciences. The department's website
