Several postdoctoral positions are available as part of environmental
research programs at Northwestern University. These programs include the
development of high density DNA arrays (DNA microchips) for
characterizing complex microbial communities (in the natural environment
and in life support systems of interest to NASA) and the study of
metal-microbe interactions in aquatic systems.

These positions are part of an interdisciplinary program in
environmental sciences combining biological (molecular, genetic,
physiological, and population levels of analysis) and chemical
(analytical electron microscopy, x-ray absorption spectroscopy, and
voltammetry). We are seeking individuals with primary skills in one
or more of these areas.

Northwestern University is an equal opportunity, affirmative action
employer. Applications from women and under-represented minorities are
encouraged. The positions are available immediately. A letter describing
research and teaching interests, an academic resume, and the name and
contact information for at least three professions references should be sent
to either: Dr. David A. Stahl (biological) or Dr. Jean-Francois Gaillard
(chemical), Department of Civil Engineering, Northwestern University,
2145 Sheridan Road, Evanston, IL, 60208-3109, U.S.A.
