CSL, a MAFF laboratory in the UK has completed a review of methods for O157
culture and isolation. They recommend mTSB for the enrichment, but CT-SMAC
for meats and CR-SMAC for milk. Again probably based upon levels of
commensurate flora. They also recommend 2 ims extraction stages - at 6 hours
and at 24 hours.

MTSB, CT-SMAC and IMS beads for O157 are all available commercially from LAB
