A POSTDOCTORAL POSITION is available to conduct research in the Department
of Pediatrics at the University of Iowa. Successful applicants will
conduct research into the role of epithelial defensins (antimicrobial
peptides) in pulmonary mucosal defenses. A particular interest is how
defects in this defense are involved in the pathogenesis of Cystic
Fibrosis. Research projects include studies of the expression and
regulation of epithelial defensins in human lung, elucidation of the
antimicrobial properties of the peptides, and search form murine homologs.
Requirements: Ph. D. or M.D. in biological sciences or equivalent.
Background in the biomedical sciences with a proficiency in molecular
biology, protein chemistry and microbiology is desirable. The University
