Will PCR technology ever reach the physician's office? What are the
hurdles?
Detecting DNA sequences specific for infectious agents appears to be
rapidly coming to fruition through PCR technology. This technology is
now entering the large clinical laboratories to routinely detect
organisms. There seems to be immense barriers for this technology to
ever reach the physician's office (eg. sample preparation,
contamination...).
I would greatly appreciate your thoughts.
