Microbiologists are great! Because of quirky email I would like to that
everyone who replied to my question about how to ID Strep bovis from a
blood culture. I was impressed by the speed and quality of the information
I received.
This is a triumph of the human brain over machines, because in spite of
what commercial panels and a reference lab reported, just staring at the
agar plate made us want to dig a little further. Turns out to be a
viridans, not bovis, and the patient and doctor are happy.
