TWO FACULTY POSITIONS IN MICROBIOLOGY
UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT AT STORRS
The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology seeks
microbiologists to fill tenure-track positions beginning
September 1996. Appointments will be made at the Assistant or
Associate Professor rank. One position is for a microbiologist
with expertise and research interests in bacterial pathogenesis
or symbiosis. The appointee is to develop and teach an
undergraduate course focused on pathogenic bacteria. The second
position is for a microbiologist with expertise and research
interests in the biochemistry, genetics, and physiology of
prokaryotes. This appointee will teach introductory
microbiology. Appointees will be expected to participate in the
graduate teaching program in microbiology.
The microbiology faculty research programs study the
biochemistry, diversity, ecology, evolution, genetics,
pathogenicity, and physiology of several prokaryotic groups. The
appointment of individuals with similar perspectives is
anticipated. The Storrs campus, situated in rural northeastern
Connecticut, is the main campus of UConn.
Applicants should have postdoctoral research experience, a
strong research record, and plans to establish a vigorous program
in an environment of collegial interactions. Excellence in
teaching and research are highly valued by the Department and
University.
A curriculum vitae, statement of research interests and
plans, and three letters of recommendation should be sent to
Professor Edward Leadbetter, Chairman, Microbiology Search
Committee, Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, University
of Connecticut, Storrs, CT 06269-2131.
Review of applications will begin after publication of this
notice and continue until both positions are filled. We
encourage applications from underrepresented groups including
minorities, women, and people with disabilities.
