Does anyone know of a paper that lists a probe sequence which is
specific for all strains of E. coli (an 18S rRNA or HSP probe)? I'm trying
to identify E. coli in marine samples and have found out that some non-E.
coli marine microbes love ONPG (=lots of false positive results). I've
gone the classical route and have eliminated many of the false positives
but still need a probe to make a definitive statement. The only probes in
the literature that I've located are for the pathogenetic strains.
