I am a graduate student working on a clinical research
project--anogenital warts in child and the probability of child abuse.
Part of the discussion focuses on detection and typing of HPV strains
and, being a clinican, not a molecular biologist, the terms "in situ
hybridization", "Southern dot-blot", "polymerase chain reaction" have
some meaning to me, but my understanding is very fuzzy. Do any of you
have suggestions for a good resource, readable text that explains the
impossibility of culturing HPV as well as the process of these
diagnostics tools? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Trudi
