Tenure Track Opening in Marine Microbiology (Reopened)
Position as Assistant Professor, Effective 26 Aug 96
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in a biological science with training and
research experience in the area of marine microbiology. Candidates must
have a record of published research and will be expected to show
potential for developing and sustaining an independent, externally funded
research program involving students that will lead to scientific
publication. Demonstrated potential for effective teaching in marine
microbiology and bacterial physiology. Ability to communicate effectively
with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications: Post-doctoral research experience.
Research expertise in the use of molecular techniques for studying marine
microbial processes. Prior successful teaching at the post-secondary level.
Duties: Teach marine microbiology and bacterial physiology and
participate in other courses such as marine biology, microbiology, or
introductory biology courses. Supervise undergraduate and graduate
student research. Develop and sustain an independent, externally-funded
research program involving students and leading to scientific
presentation and publications. Research start-up funds are available. The
individual is expected to participate in activities serving the
department, university, and community.
Salary Range: $32,712-45,216
